Taiwan Delegation Holds Green Energy Technical Training Course in Laos

A delegation of Taiwanese experts visited Vientiane on November 2nd to 6th to hold a Green Energy Technical Training Course for local engineers. Organized by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan and the Department of SME Promotion (DOSMEP) and the Institute of Renewable Energy Promotion (IREP) of Laos, the training course was one of the first transnational cooperation events on green energy between Taiwan and Laos.

The itinerary of the Taiwanese delegation include a 2-day training course and visits to government agencies to share the Taiwan experience with government and industry counterparts and discuss possible future cooperation. The delegation invited experts from all fields including solar energy, lighting solutions, energy management and smart grid technology to provide technical consultation to local engineers, in the hopes of enhancing green energy industry interaction between Taiwan and Laos.

In accordance with the renewable energy future that the Laos government has envisioned, the delegation introduced topics such as Taiwan green energy policies and promotion results, solar energy system technology and applications, smart grid systems, LED lighting principles, energy service cases, and home energy management system development, in the hopes of providing reference for green energy policy establishment in Laos.

A certificate of completion is issued to training course participants, in the hopes that the participants become local seed experts and promote green energy policies and technology in Laos.

Besides the training course, the delegation also visited DOSMEP and IREP in Vientiane. In-depth discussions deliberated the possibilities of transnational cooperation projects.

Through the technical training course and future cooperation opportunities, the delegation hopes to assist Laos in green energy policy development and green productivity enhancement.
