News: Taiwan Sets Markedly Reduced Carbon Emissions Target for 2050

Taiwan has taken a step forward in its efforts to reduce carbon emissions with the Legislature passing the ‘Greenhouse Gases Reduction and Management Act’ on June 16, which aims to cut down the emissions to less than half the level of 2005 by 2050, Focus Taiwan has reported.

According to the new law, fines of up to NT$2 million (US$64,660) will also be imposed to enterprises which evade or obstruct inspections by environmental authorities.
