The National Development Council (NDC) on November 17 announced that Taiwan received two awards from the second Energy Smart Communities Initiative (ESCI) Annual Best Practice Award Program, Focus Taiwan has reported.
The two winners are the ‘i3 Travel Project: Promoting Low Carbon Tourism and Intelligent Transportation Services in Sun-Moon-Lake Area’ and the ‘Construction and Establishment of the Smart Micro-grid Demonstration Park in Linbain Township’, which had won the Gold Award under the Smart Transportation category and the Silver Award under the Smart Grid category, respectively.
Launched in 2010, the ESCI aims to foster green growth, sustainable development and long-term job creation among APEC members, and to help realize the APEC Leaders’ goal to reduce the energy intensity of their economies by 45 percent by 2035 (over a 2005 base).
