An exhibition presenting Taiwan’s continuous efforts to combat climate change was held on December 4 at Grand Palais in Paris, Taiwan Today has reported. The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), aimed to show to representatives attending the 21st Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change Taiwan’s dedication to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
At the exhibition, participants were introduced to Taiwan’s innovations in recycling technology, including high-quality functional fabrics made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. The fabrics were also selected to make the jerseys worn by competitors at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
‘Although not a party to the UNFCCC, the ROC has been a strong proponent of green energy and sustainable development in the global community,’ an MOFA official said. ‘The country remains a pioneer in applying state-of-the-art solutions to address environmental concerns.’
