Wind energy had played an important role in new power installation across Europe in 2015, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) reported, quoting a report published by European Wind Energy Association.
According to the report, wind accounted for 44% of all new power installations across 28 EU member states, connecting a total of 12.8GW to the grid. The new installation capacity saw a year-on-year growth of 6.3% from 2014. Total wind capacity in Europe now reaches 142GW, and covers 11.4% of Europe’s electricity needs.
