The state of California took a significant step in its battle against climate change with Governor Jerry Brown signing a bill on October 7, which indicates that 50% of electricity used in California will be contributed by renewable energies by 2030, the Guardian has reported.
According to the California Energy Commission, 11.6% of all electricity used in California came from renewable energies in 2009. In 2011, the goal was set at 33% by 2020.
